The Taguig City government has recorded 403 dengue cases since the start of the year, 15 percent lower compared with last year’s 474 cases during the same period.

In a statement on Sunday, City Health Officer Isaias Ramos attributed the decrease to the relentless information campaign and cleanup drives conducted by the Taguig government.

The number is also 15 percent lower compared with the average number of cases in the past three years, he said.

As part of the Dengue Prevention and Control Program, the local government also scheduled fogging operations for the whole month of November to kill mosquito eggs.

Ramos noted that the city has not recorded any case of Zika or Chikungunya infection, viral diseases transmitted through mosquito bites.
