Under Republic Act No. 10364 (Expanded Anti-Trafficking in Persons Act), a foreigner who commits human trafficking shall be deported immediately after serving his or her sentence and be permanently barred from entering the country.
Similar penalties await foreigners who engage, or attempt to engage, the services of trafficked victims for prostitution.
In March 2014, a Swedish tourist, Kjell Christer Johansson, was arrested after he was caught with two teenage girls in his house in Talisay City, Cebu province. He was brought to the city police pending filing of charges for violation of RA 10364.
