19 town police chiefs sacked in Isabela

CITY OF CAUAYAN—Nineteen town police chiefs have been relieved from their posts following their supposed dismal performance in the Duterte administration’s anti-illegal drug campaign dubbed “Oplan: Double Barrel.”

Ordered relieved by Senior Supt. Leon Rafael, Isabela police director, were Senior Insp. Edgar Pattaui (Reina Mercedes), Alex Orbillo (Luna), Sherwin Concha (Naguilian), Reynaldo Baggayan (San Pablo), Mariano Marayag (Quirino), Rouel Menia (Delfin Albano), Noriel Lacangan (Cabatuan), Lord Wilson (San Isidro), Angelito Ramirez (Burgos), Ronald Gatan (San Agustin) and George Torrijos (Benito Soliven).

Also relieved were Chief Insp. Jayson Cabauatan (Cabagan), Jeffrey Raposas (Santa Maria), Benny Asuncion (Tumauini), Charlemagne Tabije (Mallig), Remelvin Dungca (San Guillermo), George Maribbay (Gamu), Danny Alingog (Angadanan) and Santos Tecbobolan (Alicia).

Their relief came after validation of their below satisfactory performance in the campaign, said Rafael.

Police recently raided a suspected “shabu” laboratory in the city which coincided with Mr. Duterte’s inspection of areas damaged by Supertyphoon “Lawin” in the province.

Two suspects had been killed during the raid, one of them a Chinese national, during what police said was a clash while antinarcotics agents were trying to enforce a search warrant on the facilities found along Maharlika Highway here.

Police said they found chemicals and equipment for the manufacture of shabu. Also seized were guns, a pickup truck and documents. —VILLAMOR VISAYA JR.
