SUBIC, Zambales, Philippines — A 79-year-old Canadian man was found dead inside his house in Barangay (village) Sto. Tomas here on Saturday night, police said.
Edward George May had a gunshot wound in the head and in the right foot, said Chief Insp. Leonardo Madrid, head of the Subic police station.
May’s house help said she was in her bedroom when she heard two gunshots ring out at about 6 p.m. The helper said she found the body and telephoned May’s Filipino wife Edna, 40, who was not home at that time.
According to the helper, she found May bloodied while slumped in a chair. A handgun was in his right hand.
Edna informed the police that her husband was suffering from a chronic obstructive pulmonary disease and had threatened to commit suicide.
Earlier, May crumpled his medical prescription after a check-up at a hospital inside the Subic Bay Freeport recently, she said.
Investigators recovered a gun, two empty cartridges, and a bullet from the Canadian’s house. CBB/rga
