Two men were killed while a woman was critically wounded by unidentified gunmen in two separate attacks that targeted drug suspects in Marikina City on Friday night.
The police said the three victims were on the drug watch list of Barangay Malanday, where the shootings happened just minutes apart.
According to a report submitted to Senior Supt. Lorenzo Holanday Jr., the city police chief, house painter Crisaldo Rubio and his live-in partner Annie Bosis were shot at their residence on Violet Street corner Camachile, Purok 5, around 8:17 p.m. Witnesses said at least six assailants on motorcycles were involved.
The 46-year-old Rubio, who was shot in the face, was declared dead on arrival at the hospital, while 44-year-old Bosis remained in critical condition at press time.
According to Holanday, the couple were on Malanday’s watch list of suspected drug peddlers.
About seven minutes earlier and five blocks away from Rubio’s house, another attack also involving six assailants left Romulo Andres dead on Atis Street. Andres, 46, was also on the village drug watch list, Holanday said.
Marikina has recorded 20 unsolved killings of drug suspects since the start of the Duterte administration in July, according to latest figures from the Eastern Police District.
