Aguirre orders probe of death of customs deputy commissioner

Justice Secretary Vitaliano N. Aguirre II on Friday ordered the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) to investigate the circumstances surrounding the death of Bureau of Customs (BOC) Deputy Commissioner Arturo Lachica.

Lachica was shot death Thursday night in Manila.

Justice Undersecretary Erickson Balmes told reporters that Aguirre has already ordered NBI Director Dante Gierran to conduct an investigation into the condemnable act.

Lachica was declared dead on arrival at United Doctors Medical Center after sustaining two gunshot wounds in the chest.
