A youth solon decried the “sneak burial” of the late dictator Ferdinand Marcos at the Libingan ng mga Bayani on Friday morning.

In a statement, Kabataan Rep. Sarah Elago said the “sneak burial of the late dictator—a plunderer, a human rights violator of the highest order – is a grave travesty against the Filipino people.”

Elago said the Marcoses hid the information of the burial due to fears of a backlash from the public.

“This secret burial speaks volumes of how, on one hand, the Marcos family is fearful of the wrath of the Filipino people, and on the other hand, the lengths in which authorities are willing to go just to change the course of history,” Elago said.

Elago said the burial of the dictator would only give him the status of a hero.

“The deposed president is not worthy of emulation, much less the honor of being considered a hero. In the wake of his administration, he left the Philippines as a bankrupt, rotten killing field,” Elago said.

Elago said the Marcoses continue to perpetuate its moves as thieves by deceiving the people, a tactic she called “galawang magnanakaw (act of thievery).”

“Hanggang huling hantungan, galawang magnanakaw pa rin itong si Marcos. Sa salita nga ng mga millennial, galawang Hokage (Up to his final resting place, Marcos continues to perform an act of thievery. In words of  millennials, Hokage move),” Elago said. RAM/rga
