When he was just 8 months old, Prince Daniel Sabordo suffered several seizures. He was later diagnosed with general epilepsy and congenital heart disease.
“For a first-time father like me, I thought it was just convulsions. There were times when he was sleeping and his limbs would stiffen up. His eyes would roll back into his head until only the whites were showing. I realized only much later that these were seizures,” Prince’s father, Dindo, said.
Now 5 years old, Prince was admitted on Oct. 4 to Philippine Heart Center where he underwent an operation for Patent Ductus Arteriosus, a heart defect characterized by the unusually large size of the artery, blocking the passage of oxygen and normal blood flow to the heart.
After three to six months, doctors will know if the operation was a success or if Prince must undergo open heart surgery.
Dindo, a jeepney driver from Leyte province who now lives in Del Monte, Quezon City, asked for help in paying his son’s hospital bills totaling P79,000.
