Prisoner killed in jail with Leyte mayor laid to rest
ALBUERA, Leyte—The detainee, who was killed with Mayor Rolando Espinosa Sr. while in detention, was buried quietly on Monday.
Only a handful of people, mostly family members and relatives, attended the funeral of Raul Yap at the public cemetery here on Monday afternoon. Among them were Yap’s wife, Alma, and two sisters who arrived from the United States. They declined to be interviewed, asking reporters to give them privacy.
Yap was killed by members of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group in Eastern Visayas, who claimed that the inmate fired at them when they served him a search warrant past 3 a.m. on Nov. 5.
Premeditated
Espinosa was also shot and killed because, according to policemen, he, too, put up a fight.
But senators looking into the killing said the deaths of Espinosa and Yap were premeditated.

Alma said her husband’s illegal drug possession case had been set for promulgation next month.
