7-year-old boy killed in QC fire; 100 families homeless

MANILA — A 7-year-old boy was killed in a fire that razed 35 houses in Quezon City on Sunday afternoon.

The victim was identified as John Paul Villamor, resident of Tuazon Boulevard in Barangay Tagumpay, Project 4.

According to the city fire department, the fire began around 3:20 p.m. at the Villamor residence. It was put out around 7:10 p.m., after it reached the fifth alarm, at which 19 fire trucks were used to stop the fire.

The child was reportedly discovered lifeless on the third floor of their home during the clearing operation, and was burned beyond recognition.

Around 100 families were left homeless after the blaze, which damaged an estimated half a million pesos in property.
