BOCAUE, Bulacan — Even if his aunt-in-law is seeking to run as vice governor of the Autonomous Region of Muslim Mindanao, President Aquino insisted on Monday that his administration is pushing for the postponement of the ARMM elections in August.
The President shrugged off the question that his aunt-in-law, Margarita “Tingting” Cojuangco, was the administration candidate in the ARMM polls.
Cojuangco is the wife of Philippine Olympic Committee president Jose “Peping” Cojuangco, an uncle of the President.
“How can we work for the postponement and have a candidate at the same time? That seems illogical,” Mr. Aquino told reporters after inspecting newly built houses for policemen and soldiers here at Bocaue Hills in Barangay Batia.
“Our goal is still to synchronize the ARMM polls to the 2013 midterm polls,” he said.
Cojuangco, who resigned last month as head of the Philippine Public Safety College, filed on Monday her candidacy for vice governor of ARMM.
