QC Hotel robbers kill cashier for P16K loot

Three masked men robbed a hotel in Quezon City and killed one of its employees early Friday morning—all for a P16,000 loot.

The victim was identified as Arnel Nalic, 24, a stay-in cashier at Baesa Hotel on Quirino Highway, Barangay Baesa.

According to a report by the Quezon City Police District (QCPD), Nalic was manning the counter around 3:20 a.m. along with security guard Christopher Gonzales, when the three men entered the lobby and declared a robbery.

At gunpoint, Nalic and Gonzales were forced to lie down on the floor.

The robbers then took cash amounting to P16,000 from the counter.

When the suspects were about to leave, however, Nalic reportedly stood up with the intention to fight back.

He was shot several times and also stabbed in different parts of the body.

A coworker and a barangay official who just happened to be passing by brought Nalic to Quezon City General Hospital, where he was declared dead on arrival.

Supt. Danilo Mendoza, commander of the QCPD-Talipapa station said investigators had obtained from the hotel closed-circuit television (CCTV) footage of the incident.

While the incident report mentioned three male assailants, it appeared in the footage that they entered the hotel along with a woman, he added.

The officer surmised that only Nalic was killed because he resisted.

He also noted Gonzales, the security guard, was not able to defend themselves because he did not have a firearm.
