SAN PEDRO CITY, Laguna—One of seven suspected robbers who attacked a money remittance outlet in Cabuyao City in Laguna province was killed in a shootout with policemen on Thursday night, police said Friday.
Chief Insp. Leopoldo Ferrer, Cabuyao police chief, said the slain suspect, Jonathan Domingo alias “Pulo Maligno,” a resident of Calamba City, and six others robbed a branch of the LBC money remittance center in Barangay (village) Banlic, Cabuyao at 2 p.m. Thursday.
The suspects, identified by witnesses and the shop’s employees, took P20,000 before fleeing to different directions.
Ferrer said they pursued the suspects and alerted nearby cities until they found Domingo’s house at 10 p.m.
“As the police approached the house, (the suspect) drew his gun and aimed at the police,” Ferrer said.
He said Domingo fired at policemen, prompting them to retaliate. Domingo died instantly.
Ferrer said police are hunting the six other members of the robbery group. RAM/rga
