Vice President Leni Robredo on Thursday urged government employees to be proactive—not reactive—and allow the people to participate in decision-making.

Robredo made this statement in a keynote speech during the fourth recognition ceremony for government organizations with an ISO 9001 quality management system certification.

The ISO 9001 refers to a family of quality management standards that ensure client satisfaction.

According to Robredo, 179 government institutions were awarded in the ceremony, including 93 departments which include: staff and bureau offices, hospitals and attached agencies, eight executive offices, a constitutional office, 21 state universities and colleges, 14 local government units, 37 government-owned and -controlled corporations, and five local water districts.

“We don’t have to be reactive all the time. We must be proactive by default. When we do, we will find amazing ways to solve the ills that have plagued our nation for decades,” said the Vice President during the event held at the Landbank headquarters in Malate, Manila.
