President Rodrigo Duterte on Tuesday teased Vice President Leni Robredo about her love life.
In his speech during the commemoration of the onslaught of Supertyphoon “Yolanda” in Tacloban, Duterte asked Robredo about rumors that she has a boyfriend.
“Sabagay pupunta rin ako dito kasi nandito si Vice President. Kung san siya pupunta pasunud-sunod ako. Pero byuda kasi. Annulled man ako sa asawa ko, pero may anak ako. Pero basta suportahan lang ok lang ‘yun,” Duterte said in jest.
“Ma’am balita ko may boyfriend ka raw, sabi diyan sa ano … Don’t be offended, ‘yon sabi nila. Hindi totoo? Eh kung totoo ‘yun ma’am may mapatay na congressman na bago, para ma-byuda ulit,” he added.
Robredo laughed and shook her head.
Duterte’s marriage with Elizabeth Zimmerman was annulled in 1998. They have three children: Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio, Davao City Vice Mayor Paolo Duterte, and Sebastian Duterte.
Robredo’s husband, former Interior Secretary Jesse Robredo, died in a plane crash in 2012. They have three daughters, namely Tricia, Aika, and Jillian./rga
