Senator Bam Aquino has expressed his grave disappointment over the Supreme Court’s decision allowing the burial of a “corrupt and ruthless dictator” at the Libingan ng mga Bayani.
Aquino is the nephew of martyred Senator Benigno “Ninoy” Aquino Jr., who was assassinated during the dictatorship of the late strongman Ferdinand Marcos.

“We are gravely disappointed by the Supreme Court’s decision to bury a corrupt and ruthless dictator in the LNMB,” the senator said in a statement on Tuesday, reacting to reports that the SC has allowed Marcos’ burial at the heroes’ cemetery.
“Though we must respect the outcome, my heart goes out to the thousands of victims during the darkest years in Philippine history,” he added.
The senator, who chairs the Senate committee on education, promised to work with the Department of Education “to ensure that the truth about martial law is effectively taught in our schools.”
“With this decision, we need to be even more vigilant that the mistakes of the past are not repeated. Never again,” he added. JE/rga
