In 1937, Tagalog is recommended as the basis of the national language by the Institute of National Language (now Komisyon sa Wikang Filipino).

Filipino revolutionaries, led by Emilio Aguinaldo, repulse Spanish forces in Kawit, Cavite, in 1896. Known as the Battle of Binakayan, it is considered
“one of the shining moments
of the Philippine struggle
for independence.”
