A low pressure area embedded along the intertropical convergence zone is expected to continue bringing rains over southern Luzon, the Visayas and Mindanao over the weekend.
In its 24-hour forecast issued 5 p.m. on Friday, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said cloudy skies with moderate to occasionally heavy rains and thunderstorms may trigger flash floods and landslides over the Bicol region, Eastern Visayas and the province of Quezon.
Light to moderate rains and thunderstorms are also expected over Mimaropa, the rest of the Visayas, Mindanao and the provinces of Cavite, Batangas, Laguna and Rizal.
Cloudy skies with light rains are forecast for Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon.
The tropical depression expected to enter the country two days ago, which has developed into Tropical Storm “Meari,” remains outside the Philippine area of responsibility (PAR). As of 4 p.m., Meari was located 1,880 kilometers east of Central Luzon.
The weather bureau is also keeping its eye on another tropical depression outside the PAR, located 2,845 kms east of extreme northern Luzon as of yesterday afternoon.
