Hoopers take solo lead

HOOPERS Five backed by the Philippine Institute of Certified Public Accountants (PICPA) routed CUBA-C, 78-55, last Saturday to take the solo leadership with 4-1 (win-loss) record card at the close of the elimination round of the Cebu United Bankers Association  (CUBA)-2011 summer basketball tournament at the Capitol Parish gym along Escario Street.

Despite the absence of skipper Yoly Meso and Lito Ortiz, the Hoopers still managed to dominate the duration of the game from start to finish and posted a lead of 24 points, 57-33, en route to the easy win.

Benedict Bandala and Ban-ban Talaroc led Hoopers with 16 and 15 points, respectively.

Four other teammates also scored in double figures headed by Ryan Alejandre (13), Bogs Manulat (12), Andrew Tocao and Arjam Bonsucan  (10 each.)

Erik Itkong paced CUBA-C (2-3) with a game-high 23 points, while John Roces and Rey Pajares added 25 points combined in a losing cause.
