The Bureau of Customs (BOC) has started its latest round of reforms, aiming to streamline the bureaucracy by removing so-called nonorganic personnel, according to Commissioner Rozzano Rufino Biazon.
In a statement, Biazon said the BOC’s reform program under his watch was aimed at making the bureau “more professional and more efficient” by closing loopholes within the organization and its processes.
The customs chief has issued a memorandum mandating the removal of redundant positions and nonorganic personnel.
Biazon said non-organic staff “for so many years have been performing functions supposedly assigned only to organic BOC personnel.
“We have to establish the responsibilities and accountability of all BOC personnel to avoid confusion that smugglers exploit,” Biazon added.
