SAN PEDRO CITY – A village chief in Socorro Oriental Mindoro was arrested in a buy-bust operation in Naujan town past noon on Sunday.
In a text message, Sr. Supt. Christopher Birung, director of the Oriental Mindoro police, said they arrested Roberto Lining around 12:30 p.m. in Barangay (village) Sampaguita, Naujan. Lining is captain of Barangay Pasi 1 in the nearby Socorro town.
He was also listed as one of the “high value targets” of the police in relation to illegal drug trade.
Supt. Neil Apostol of the Mindoro police said it was not clear yet as to why Lining was in Naujan Sunday morning.
He said suspected “shabu” was recovered from the suspect but the police were still doing an inventory to determine the amount of illegal drugs. JE /rga
