Boy, 13, shot dead by 17-yr-old in Cebu town

Cebu City—A 13-year-old boy was shot dead by a 17-year-old friend after an altercation on Wednesday in Barangay Cansaga, Consolacion town, some 13 kilometers north of Cebu City.

The 13-year-old took a bullet in the chest. The 17-year-old fled after the shooting inside a billiard hall in Cansaga about 5 a.m., police said.

A witness was quoted as saying he saw the altercation, saw the older boy pull out a gun and shoot the younger boy once in the chest.

PO1 Rey Adriaque, of the Consolacion police office, said the victim was brought to a hospital in Mandaue City where doctors declared him dead.

Adriaque said the parents of the 17-year-old didn’t know how their son got a gun or why he kept the weapon. The victim and suspect, according to Adriaque, were both out-of-school youths who spent most of their time in the streets.
