The number coding scheme will be lifted in Metro Manila on Monday, October 31, and Tuesday, November 1, the Metro Manila Development Authority (MMDA) said on Saturday.
Malacañang has earlier declared October 31 and November 1 as special nonworking days in observance of All Saints’ Day and All Souls’ Day and to give way to those going home to their provinces.
The Inter-Agency Council on Traffic (i-ACT) said the lifting of the number coding scheme for provincial buses would be extended until November 3. The i-ACT said it would deploy around 2,900 personnel to man the roads around Metro Manila.
The Department of Transportation (DOTr) on Friday ordered all its attached agencies to be on heightened alert to ensure the safety of passengers going to their provinces.
“The DOTr has directed all its attached agencies to be on heightened alert status to guarantee the security and safety of passengers traveling during the Undas period,” the DOTr said in statement.
“Attached agencies are expected to make sure that public concern hotlines are operational and properly manned,” it added. IDL
