Los Baños ‘shabu queen’, 17 others nabbed in drug raids

SAN PEDRO CITY–A woman described by the police as the “shabu queen” in the university town of Los Baños in Laguna was arrested along with 17 other people in simultaneous raids early Friday.

Police served nine search warrants targeting suspected shabu (methamphetamine hydrochloride) peddlers in the villages of Bayog and San Antonio at 2:30 a.m., said Supt. Vicente Cabatingan, Los Baños police chief.

Cabatingan said they recovered shabu worth P100,000 and drug paraphernalia from the suspects.

Among those arrested was Rosalina Lumaybay, whom police tagged as the town’s “shabu queen” and head of the so-called Lumaybay drug group.

Also arrested were Mark Rivera, Rolando Decena, Gerardo Presa, Gimiliano Tandag, Roberto Lumaybay, Carlo Bustamante and Emelita Eusebio, who were named in the warrants.

Another suspect, Ricardo Maranan, escaped.

Cabatingan said the police dismantled the Lumaybay drug group which supplied illegal drugs to clients in Los Baños and the nearby towns of Bay, Victoria, and Pila. CDG/rga
