MANILA — A drug surrenderer was shot dead in Marikina City on Wednesday evening.

Senior Superintendent Lorenzo Holanday, Marikina police chief, said Arman dela Paz, 47, died around 6 p.m. in front of 171 P. Burgos St., Sto. Nino, Marikina City after still unidentified gunmen on board a motorcycle fired several shots at him.

Holanday said the killers fled in an unknown direction.

Dela Paz was included on the barangay’s drug watch list who surrendered in the Oplan Tokhang program, police said. Oplan Tokhang is the door-to-door campaign of the Philippine National Police, wherein cops visit known drug pushers and users at their homes to persuade them to surrender to the police and undergo rehabilitation.

Information from the Eastern Police District showed that Dela Paz’s murder was among the 10 deaths under investigation in Marikina since July.  SFM/rga
