Pateros finally gets own police station

MANILA, Philippines—The police responsible for the safety of residents in the municipality of Pateros in Metro Manila will finally get their own station built on 600 square meters of government-owned land.

Philippine National Police chief Director General Nicanor Bartolome said the construction of the P8.3 million-worth police station would likely be finished within six to eight months.

Funds for the equipment for the police station would not only be coming from the PNP but also from the local government of Pateros.

Bartolome added that some of the PNP’s funds were set aside for the construction of police stations every year but that the allocation was “just enough” for a few stations nationwide every year.

Pateros Mayor Joey Capco said that Sta. Ana village, where the police station was being built, was the largest village in Pateros, making it the area with the most issues in its peace and order situation.

Capco said that roughly half of Pateros’ population lived in Sta. Ana village, adding that the police headquarters have always been located inside their municipal office.
