The Department of Justice (DOJ) urged the Philippine National Police (PNP) and the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) to conduct a parallel investigation surrounding the circumstances on the death of Mati City Prosecutor Rolando Acido.

In separate statements, Justice Secretary Vitaliano Aguirre II and Prosecutor General Claro Arellano, head of the DOJ’s National Prosecution Service, condemned the killing of Acido, calling the act “cowardly and senseless.”
