TAGUM CITY–A government prosecutor was killed by an unidentified gunman outside the Hall of Justice in Mati City, Davao Oriental early on Wednesday, police said.
Chief Insp. Andrea dela Cerna, Southern Mindanao police regional spokesperson, identified the victim as Fiscal Rolando Acido, Mati city prosecutor.
Dela Cerna said initial information revealed the victim was shot outside the Hall of Justice in Dahican village around 8:20 a.m.
The 55-year-old victim was about to get off from his car when an assailant approached and shot him several times before fleeing.
Acido was rushed to St. Camillus Hospital in Mati for treatment but had died hours after.
Police were able to recover five empty shells and one fired slug from a cal. 45 at the scene of incident.
The victim had a bodyguard who was following him on a motorcycle when the attack happened. CDG
