President Duterte has appointed an engineer and former Rizal vice governor as deputy chair of the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA).
Frisco San Juan Jr. was formally introduced to MMDA employees on Monday following his appointment last week.
MMDA General Manager Tim Orbos said that since San Juan is a former provincial official, he would be “the best person” to handle and maintain the agency’s “harmonious working relationship” with the 17 Metro Manila mayors.
He added that given San Juan’s background as an engineer, his technical skills would be “invaluable to the agency and play a vital part in addressing the various concerns in the metropolis.”
“He will ably handle [the agency’s mandates on] flood control and solid waste management,” Orbos said of San Juan, a member of the Nationalist People’s Coalition when he was Rizal’s vice governor for two terms.
