Fire razes radio station in Occidental Mindoro

MANILA, Philippines — Unidentified suspects burned down a radio station in Occidental Mindoro before dawn Wednesday, said Chief Superintendent Agrimero Cruz Jr., Philippine National Police spokesman.

Cruz said that although there were no casualties, damage to property at radio DZVT in Barangay (village) Labangan Poblacion in San Jose was estimated at P2.8 million.

Cruz said that firefighters declared fire out at around 4 a.m. and that an investigation was underway to determine what caused the blaze that started at 1 a.m.

DZVT was owned and operated by the Apostolic Vicarate of San Jose de Occidental Mindoro, according to the radio station’s website.
