P50T worth of drugs seized in raid

SEVERAL packs of suspected shabu worth P50,000 were seized from a man during a police raid in barangay Tejero, Cebu City, early morning yesterday.

The raid on Jesus Dequitos’ house came after almost a month of surveillance, said Chief Insp. Romeo Santander, chief of the City Intelligence Branch of the Cebu City police.

Police said 10 medium packs of suspected shabu were found in the man’s house.

A search warrant issued by Regional Trial Court (RTC) Judge Oliver Peras was used in the raid.

Police said the 57-year-old Dequitos alias Titot is a level 2 drug pusher who could dispose of not less than 200 grams of shabu a week.

Santander said Dequitos has been reported in the text hotline of the Movement Against Drugs.

Dequitos denied owning the shabu.

Dequitos has been arrested thrice in the past for the same charges but posted bail.

Dequitos may not be able to  post bail this time because of the quantity of drugs seized in his house.

Based on Republic Act  (RA) 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, a person found guilty of  possession of more than 50 grams of shabu faces life imprisonment or death./CORRESPONDENT CHITO O. ARAGON
