Baby boy found in toilet near M’daue church

A newborn baby wrapped in a white cloth was left inside the public comfort room near the National Shrine of Saint Joseph in Mandaue City  yesterday early morning.

Martina Bastesa, a member of the Sacred Ministry, found the baby boy on the floor of the men’s section of the comfort room at 5 a.m.

Bastesa told police that she went to the comfort room before attending the early-morning Mass when she heard a baby crying from inside.

When she checked, she found the baby, who was still bloodstained and with umbilical cord still uncut.

FEATURED STORIES

Police brought the baby to the hospital and later  turned him over to the City Social Welfare Services.

The incident is under  investigation to identify the mother of the baby.
