TUGUEGARAO CITY—A heavy equipment driver died after being electrocuted by dangling power lines damaged by supertyphoon “Lawin” in Diffun, Quirino on Monday morning.

Rodolfo Sumulat was delivering ready-mix concrete to an ongoing road concreting project in Barangay (village) Villa Pascua when he reportedly climbed atop his truck and tried to tie up a low-lying power line that was blocking his path in the sub-village of Limos.

But the line turned out to be a live power cable, police said.
