Village councilor shot dead in Manila

MANILA — A barangay councilor was shot dead in Sta. Cruz, Manila on Saturday.

Edmund Caranza, 42, kagawad of Barangay 350 Zone 35 was talking to his friends on M. Natividad street when a gunman shot him.

Two bullets instantly killed him.

The gunman, who has not been identified by police, brandished his gun to Caranza’s neighbors before leaving toward Rizal Avenue on foot.

Motive has yet to be established.

Caranza’s body was transferred to the Sanctuary Funeral Homes.  SFM/rga
