Cavite hostage-taker dies in hospital
LOS BAÑOS, Laguna — The suspect in the hostage-taking in Dasmariñas City in Cavite Saturday died after being shot by the police, a police report on Sunday said.
Supt. Rodolfo Hernandez, city police chief, identified the fatality as Peter Adricula, 33, of Trece Martires City, also in Cavite.
Hernandez said Adricula barged into a residential compound and entered the victims’ apartment at about 2 p.m. Saturday. He went straight to the kitchen and grabbed a knife then held three people hostage.
The victims were identified as Marian Tarazona, 20 (not Famarin as earlier reported by the police) and her nieces Janielsa, 8, and Jeremiah, 1, both surnamed Famanil.
Through police negotiation, Jeremiah was released safely at about 3 p.m.
