Wife nabbed for drugs as raid misses Maguindanao exec suspect

COTABATO CITY—Backed by the military, antinarcotics agents in the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (ARMM) on Friday arrested the wife of a Maguindanao town councilor but missed the official, who was the main target of an antidrug raid.

Elements of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA-ARMM) also seized about 25 grams of methamphetamine hydrochloride or “shabu” with an estimated market value of P100,000 during the raid against Guindulungan Councilor Saiden Utto.

His wife, Fairuniza, was taken into custody following the 6 a.m. court-backed raid on Utto’s house in Barangay Macasampen in Guindulungan.

Authorities also seized an unlicensed 12-gauge shot gun and ammunition for M-14 rifle and .45-cal. pistol.
