Woman, 10-year-old girl yield P10-M ‘shabu’ at Lanao checkpoint

SAGUIRAN, Lanao del Sur – Authorities took into custody a 23-year old woman and a 10-year old girl after they yielded about a kilogram of suspected shabu at a checkpoint here on Friday, a military official said Saturday.

Col. Joselito Pastrana, commander of the Army’s 65th Infantry Battalion, said a combined team of soldiers, policemen and anti-drug agents, flagged down an SUV at a checkpoint in Barangay Pawak here around 6:30 p.m.

While inspection was being conducted on the vehicle driven by Raihana Disalo, Pastrana said operatives noticed that the girl was uncomfortably sitting on a bulky plastic bag.

It turned out she was sitting on shabu, he said.

Pastrana said the woman and the child are now under the custody of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) in the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao.

Marlon Santos, operations chief of the PDEA-ARMM, said the estimated value of the shabu seized was about P10 million. CDG
