The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) has advised motorists to avoid Mindanao Avenue and Batasan Road in Quezon City this weekend because of upcoming roadworks by the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH).
The P33-million maintenance projects of the DPWH in the city will start midnight on Saturday and end at midnight on Sunday.
It will cover the southbound lane of Mindanao Avenue, ending just before the Mindanao tunnel; and the eastbound lane of Batasan Road, from Litex to Batasan Gate.
Motorists who need to take Mindanao Avenue can instead use Balintawak or Edsa to reach their destination, while those using Batasan Road can take Commonwealth Avenue.
The roadworks will be done a week before the Interagency Council on Traffic imposes a 10-week ban on road excavations in Metro Manila. Starting Nov. 1, the MMDA will no longer release permits for such DPWH projects.
The moratorium will last until Jan. 9 next year.—JOVIC YEE
