The suspect in the killing of a mother and her seven-year-old son inside their home on the University of the Philippines campus in Diliman, Quezon City, has been named by police.
Chief Insp. Rodelio Marcelo of the Quezon City Police District Criminal Investigation and Detection identified the suspect as Lito Arsenia.
Marcelo said they are working on various leads on the whereabouts of Arsenia, reportedly the live-in partner of the slain woman, Edna Macaraeg.
He said Arsenia went missing after the bodies of Macaraeg and her son were found in their house at Greenthumb Garden along C.P. Garcia Avenue in Barangay UP Campus.
“Arsenia was seen with his belongings and has not surfaced since then. We consider him as the prime suspect in the murder of the mother and son,” Marcelo said.
The police official said Arsenia and the victim had been living together for the past two years.
Marcelo said they have yet to determine the motive of the killing, although neighbors said they heard the couple arguing loudly days before the murders took place.
