SUBIC BAY FREEPORT – The Office of the President has designated lawyer Randy Escolango as the officer-in-charge Administrator of the Subic Bay Metropolitan Authority (SBMA), quashing confusion as to who will serve as the agency’s chief executive officer.
Executive Secretary Salvador Medialdea issued the memorandum on Wednesday and was received by the office of SBMA Chair Martin Diño on Friday.
Medialdea said Escolango’s designation would ensure “uninterrupted delivery of public service” in the agency.
Escolango currently serves as the SBMA deputy administrator for legal affairs.
His designation took effect on Wednesday, Medialdea said.
On Sept. 23, President Duterte appointed Diño as SBMA chairman but had left the administrator post vacant. JE/rga
