Children summit to map plans against cyberporn
SIXTEEN-year-old Kimberly Marquez of barangay Tinaan, Naga City, said she is looking forward to sharing what she knows and to learn something new in the second Provincial Children’s Summit which opened yesterday.
One of the key topics is the problem of human trafficiking, which targets children as victims.
“It helps a lot that we will be aware about what we can do to solve the problem of trafficking especially for our community,” Marquez told Cebu Daily News.
The summit aims to increase community awareness about child trafficking in Cebu. Marquez is one of many youth representatives who attended the Children’s Summit.
Provincial Social Welfare Development (PSWD) Marivic Garces said children should be educated about their rights to protect them from exploitation.
This way youth leaders can also become advocates against exploitation. The summit, spearheaded by the Provincial Council for the Welfare of Children (PCWC), is being held at the Cebu International Convention Center. /Reporter Candeze R. Mongaya
