A barangay councilor in Pasay City who said he was related to President Duterte was among three local officials arrested for drinking liquor in a public place.
The police on Monday filed a complaint for violation of Ordinance No. 265 in the Pasay City Prosecutor’s Office against Ferdinand Duterte, 38, Barangay 57 councilor; Victor Villanueva, 50, Barangay 56 secretary; and Jessie Feria, 59, Barangay 56 councilor.
Asked if he was related to the President, Duterte said his father was from Cebu and had told him before that they were related to Mr. Duterte.
Members of the Taft-Arnaiz Police Community Precinct led by Chief Insp. Remedios Terte were conducting “Oplan Rody” (Rid the Streets of Drinkers and Youths) when they saw the group drinking on Tramo Street, where they all lived, around 11 p.m. on Saturday.
According to the arresting officers, Villanueva bragged about working in the mayor’s office and told Terte that she would soon be transferred to Basilan.
Duterte and Feria, who were moved to the Pasay police headquarters on Monday, told the Inquirer that they were attending a neighbor’s birthday party.
