The low pressure area (LPA) in the Philippine Area of Responsibility was expected to develop into a tropical depression within 24 hours, according to the state weather bureau.
In its 11 a.m. bulletin on Wednesday, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said the weather disturbance will be named “Karen.”
The LPA was last plotted at 715 kilometers east of Catarman in Northern Samar.
Pagasa said the LPA will bring moderate to occasionally heavy rains and isolated thunderstorms over Eastern Visayas and Caraga, warning residents of possible flash floods and landslides. YG/RAM
