Minority groups from all over the country will gather at the University of the Philippines campus in Diliman, Quezon City, to show their support for peace talks between the government and rebel groups.
They will also use the event to reiterate their right to self-determination.
More than 3,200 delegates from Lumad, Moro, Igorot, Aeta, Mangyan and Agta groups are on their way to Metro Manila to join this year’s Lakbayan, which will feature cultural events and learning workshops.
Other activities include a unity march to Mendiola, alliance-building of the national minorities and cultural nights. The groups are also set to meet with representatives from government agencies such as the Department of Justice, Philippine National Police, National Commission for Indigenous People and the House of Representatives.
The first batch of delegates from the northern regions will arrive at the campus Wednesday night while the rest will arrive tomorrow (Thursday).
