MANILA — Three drug suspects were killed and two policemen were hurt in two separate operations in Quezon City on Saturdaynight and early Sunday.

PO1 John Dale Ang of the Quezon City Police District (QCPD) Station 4 and PO2 Julius Albao of the District Special Operations Unit (DSOU) sustained gunshot wounds on the left elbow and left hand, respectively.

Ang was shot during an encounter at around 7:30 p.m. at No. 25 Urbano St., Barangay Bagbag, Novaliches City, where they targeted Rommel Haban, a known drug pusher in the area.

The suspect reportedly fired his handgun when he realized that Ang was an undercover cop. Responding policemen fired back at him, killing the suspect.

Seized from the suspect were a .38-revolver and nine sachets of shabu (methamphetamine hydrochloride).

In another operation along Mapagkumbaba St. Area 7, Barangay Botocan at around 2 a.m. Sunday, drug suspects Leonardo Antonio Kanahashi, alias “LA” and his still unidentified cohort, were also killed after a shootout with policemen. The encounter wounded Albao on his left hand when the unidentified cohort of Kanahashi fired at him while the other suspect was grappling with another police officer.

Recovered from their possession were a .40-pistol, a .38-revolver, 10 sachets of shabu (methamphetamine hydrochloride) and P15,000 marked money.

The two wounded policemen have also been both discharged from the hospital after undergoing treatment.  SFM
