Pagadian nurse severs toes of infant by accident

ZAMBOANGA CITY—A nurse in Pagadian City is now in hot water after she  accidentally cut the toes of an infant with scissors.

Chief Supt. Billy Beltran, Western Mindanao police director, said a case of physical injury had been filed against the nurse, identified as Riza Dominsac.

Beltran said the case stemmed from the Oct. 5 incident at the Hofileña Hospital in Pagadian City where the nurse worked.

He said the infant’s father, Charles del Mar, 22, went to the Pagadian City police’s women and children desk and reported that Dominsac took their daughter for a bath around 6 a.m. Wednesday.

But after about three hours, the baby was not returned to them.

They later found out that the nurse had cut two of the infant’s left toes. A physician had told the Del Mars it was accidental.

Insp. Lerma Boron, chief of the Pagadian City police’s WCD, said the hospital was uncooperative but they were able to locate and arrest Dominsac.

The nurse is currently  detained at the Pagadian City police office pending a court order for her transfer to another facility./rga
