Mayor’s brother, companion killed in Batangas ambush

BATANGAS CITY, Philippines — A village chief, who was a brother of a mayor in Batangas, and his companion were killed while another was wounded when four men fired at their vehicle in Talisay town on Tuesday afternoon, police said.

Senior Insp. Hazel Luma-Ang, Batangas police information officer, said Reynaldo Amo, village chief of Poblacion 2 in Laurel town and brother of Laurel Mayor Randy James Amo, died on the way to the hospital.

Also killed was his companion, Severino Alday.

Their companion, Ace Alcantara, was wounded while another companion, Severino Endaya, was unharmed.

Luma-Ang said four men on board two motorcycles opened fire at the group’s Hyundai Tucson while it was travelling along the national highway in Barangay Sampaloc, Talisay, at 4:10 p.m. CBB
