The suspect in the killing of a barangay (village) traffic enforcer in Quezon City last week was arrested in his hometown in Aparri, Cagayan on Monday night.
Geronimo Iquin, 46, was found by a tracker team of the Quezon City Police District (QCPD) in a room inside Dream Land Hotel in Barangay Macanaya, Aparri.
Iquin, mechanic and owner of the Extreme Diesel Calibration Center in Barangay Holy Spirit Quezon City, was the alleged gunman who shot and killed barangay traffic enforcer Ernesto Paras Jr. last week in Barangay Silangan over an issue on double parking.
A footage from a closed-circuit television (CCTV) footage in the area showed Paras noticing the black Honda Civic driven by the suspect violating the no-double parking rule along the said street.
He tried to locate the driver but when he failed to see him, Paras then removed the license plate of the car. The driver then appeared on the location and had an altercation with the enforcer who did not want to yield to the request of the suspect.
The suspect was then later on seen grabbing a gun from his car then repeatedly shooting Paras. He also ran over the victim before he sped off from the crime scene.
Before he traveled to Cagayan Valley, Iquin left the vehicle he was driving at the house of his cousin in Barangay San Roque, Antipolo City.

QCPD head Senior Supt. Guillermo Lorenzo Eleazar said the operatives did not stop for three days to locate the suspect.
“As I assured the grieving family of Mr. Paras, after he was killed, we would leave no stone unturned to hunt him down as soon as possible. I am glad that our personnel have not let us down. Not only that, they have rapidly rendered justice to the poor victim who was only doing his job,” Eleazar said.
