TAGUM CITY, Davao del Norte – Gunmen on a motorcycle on Monday shot and killed a junior police officer in Mati City, Davao Oriental, authorities said.
Insp. Jay Reuben Plaza died instantly after being shot in the head along Nazareno Street in downtown Mati past 7 a.m.
Plaza was riding his motorcycle to report for work at Mati police station when attacked. The victim was the city police’s investigator.
Witnesses said they saw the killers speed away on another motorcycle after the shooting.
A worker of a nearby eatery was also wounded after being hit by a stray bullet in the leg. SFM/rga
