TYPHOON “Igme” (international name: Chaba), which threatens to hit Japan early this week, is too far away to directly affect the country, according to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa).

The typhoon was packing winds of 150 kph and gusts up to 185 kph as of yesterday but continued to intensify, weather forecaster Aldczar Aurelio said.

Igme grazed the country’s northernmost border over the weekend on its way to Japan.

Pagasa is eyeing two simultaneous weather disturbances later this week that may bring rains over Luzon and the Visayas.

In its weekly outlook, Pagasa said a low pressure area may form over the West Philippine Sea and a tropical cyclone may form over the East Philippine Sea by Tuesday.
The weather disturbances may bring light to moderate rains and isolated rainshowers over Mimaropa, Ilocos and Bicol, and the Visayas until Wednesday.
